Where Sun is an Enemy

This video narrates the relationship of the elements, such as the sun, in relation to the skin – how the relation with the sun is being forced to the molecular one and how we have made the sun into an enemy. Through the genomic industrial complex, the skin becomes the medical screen, reading across for signs of life, illness, and death. The readings bring along a new code for life, a code that is knowable, a code that can categorize the good and the evil, and determine the worthiness of beings, leading to biopolitics. These concretise thinking about life and death, in datafied and newly commodified ways, becoming a part of biocapitalism. On the other hand, skin becomes a form of social context.
